SPRINKLER SYSTEM DESIGN

SPRINKLER SYSTEM DESIGN

Here at Residential Fire Protection, all our designs are undertaken in accordance with BS9251:2021 and include any guidance notes or technical bulletins that are issued by the relevant bodies.

On receiving full DWG drawings, our design team will introduce the location of the sprinkler heads to all areas that are required in accordance with the latest British Standard. These drawings will then be issued for comment and approval. Should drawings not be available in DWG format, we will provide a full survey and design package to overcome this issue if required. Once the drawings are approved, we will then proceed with adding the system pipework, coordinating other services where we can.

The sprinkler system can be supplied from several different sources; towns main, boosted cold water systems or an independent pump and tank in accordance with BS9251:2021. As all our systems are fully hydraulically calculated (FHC) using Canute software along with the detailed designs, this will determine the water flow and pressures required for the demand of the system. A pressure and flow test can be carried out to determine if a towns main could achieve the pressure and flow required. If not, alternatives such as a pump and tank system would be explained and discussed in full.

Once completed, our designs are forwarded to the client for comment and approval. Once approved, a start date will be agreed, and our Residential Fire Protection engineers will be issued with our construction drawings for work to commence on site. Should any deviations from the designs be required during installation, these will be discussed with the design team and recorded as the ‘as fitted’ drawings on completion. Any deviations are calculated and checked prior to approval to ensure that the changes have no impact on the system demands.
